Severe Weather Strikes Connecticut

It was a rough afternoon for many Connecticut residents as the weather turned suddenly from warm and sunny to dark and ominous. Shortly after 4pm the skies in Wolcott begun turning extremely grey. Our 24 News bureau in the town of Wolcott was hit with one severe T-Storm that even included hail falling from the sky. At the height of the storm nearly 38,000 CL&P customers were without power. Towns that received the most storm damage included Farmington, West Hartford, and Cheshire. Other areas of the state experiencing widespread power outages included Farmington and Wethersfield. Many local TV stations in the Hartford area broadcasted LIVE coverage of the ferocious weather for more than two hours straight.  Meanwhile, CL&P crews are out trying to repair downed power lines. As the severe weather exits the state, residents will be left with many trees and branches to clear.
