Information: Marcus Harun is the 18-year-old Owner and CEO of 24 News Now. Marcus created it back in 2006 as a local news program on Connecticut Community Access, and since then, has lead it to become a nationally recognized student news network. He manages all aspects of 24 News including website administration, and staff. Marcus created all the motion and still graphics for 24 News’ Video Network. One of his favorite things is reporting the news as the main anchor of 24 News.

Marcus has been featured at least eight times on the international news channel, CNN, for his reporting and political commentary. In December 2008, he was featured on Anderson Cooper’s CNN program for a video he submitted, check out CNN.24NewsNow.com to watch Marcus’ CNN Appearance.

Marcus is a junior at Hamden High School and is extremely active in his school community. He is treasurer of his class of 2010, and helps run all junior events. He is president of the Technology Student Association at Hamden High, coming in top ten at the international competition for the past three years straight. He is an editor on his school’s newspaper, the Dial. He is a plaintiff attorney for the mock trial team. In early 2009, he created his school’s first talk show, Hamden High This Week, co-hosting and producing it, too. He is a member of the Human Relations Club, and Bridge Builders; visiting the elderly at the Whitney Center.

In the summer of 2008, he attended two journalism programs. First, he attended Quinnipiac University’s Television News Institute, learning from the broadcast journalism pros like Sonia Baghdady. He also attended Yale University’s Summer Journalism Program. At Yale, he learned from students and experts like New York Times Writer, David Pogue. Journalism is certainly Marcus’ passion; he hopes to attend Quinnipiac University and then pursue a career in Broadcast.
